Dr Monsuru Muritala is a Reader in the Department of History, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He earned his B.A, M.A and Ph.D. in History from the University of Ibadan. He had a brief banking experience at First Bank of Nigeria Plc (2003-2007), Intercontinental Bank, now Access Bank Plc (2007-2008), before he was appointed an Assisstant Lecturer in 2008 at the University of Ibadan. He is a Cadbury fellow of the Centre for West African Studies (CWAS), University of Birmingham, United Kingdom (2015); British Academy visiting fellow, Queen Mary University of London (2018); and fellow of the African Humanities Program of the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). He has published in books and learned journals both locally and internationally. His most recent publication is: Livelihood in Colonial Lagos, London and New York: Lexington Books, 2019. He specialises in Nigerian History, Economic History and Urban History. He has been the University Course Supervisor for GES 102 since 2016. He was the Departmental Examinations Officer.
